DETAILS: Mission Air installed two 4 ton systems reaching 20 SEER Efficiency and one 5 ton system reaching 19.25 SEER. This included all new duct work R-8, Trane electronic air cleaners as well we turned one system from being upright (upflow) to a horizontal position to create much more usable attic space. The old system was centrally located in the attic. We were able to move and rotate it to a much better position and place.
Because of the scale of work on this particular job it took a total of ~5 days to complete. Taking appropriate measure and time to properly install a high efficiency HVAC system is important otherwise the full benefit of the systems high efficiency and advanced air quality can be diminished.
Efficiency – These XV20i air conditioning systems operate with 19 and 20 SEER Efficiency. The furnaces and condensers utilized are variable speed with two stages of heat provided. Since this is Houston we opted for 80 % AFUE. Other northern markets will warrant installing a 90% or higher furnace. Few central air systems can reach these kinds of efficiency while maintaining a high level of air quality.
Air Quality – Air quality can be hard to define and realize. In this case the air will be cleaner and more comfortable. This is done by two measures. Humidity removal and filtration. We’ve installed the Trane CleanEffects electronic air cleaner which is the most effective whole home air cleaner available. This not only cleans the air but also makes the HVAC system more efficient and less prone to repairs because it is kept clean of dirt and debris. Dirt and Debris is the primary cause for failure in HVAC systems. Get rid of the dirt and then you’ll get rid of many possible failures. Further this system removes more humidity by operating at variable speeds allowing it to run a lower rate for longer allowing for more moisture to be pulled out of the air.
Low Noise Level – Both the indoor and outdoor equipment are vastly more quiet than older systems. No more clunking and flickering lights with these. They have a soft start and can run from 25% to full Capacity in increments of 1/10th of a percent. Pretty impressive as it is the only central air system available with this kind of precision.
