Centerpoint has a vested interest in this program because properly cleaning and maintaining HVAC systems in Houston reduces the load demand on the electrical grid. One part of the program is to thoroughly clean the evaporator coil. Most HVAC tune-up programs in Houston don’t include this type of cleaning. As you can see from the pictures below, the coil before cleaning is impacted by dust and dirt. This can be prevented by changing your filter every month. Not changing your filter causes all that dust and dirt to stick to the HVAC system. More dirt and dust causes reduced cooling and system efficiency.
