WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MY Air Conditioning Tune Up?
Our Standard HVAC tune ups include an over 20 point inspection as well as a condensate flush and condenser coil cleaning.
HOW MUCH DOES THE A/C TUNE UP COST?
We have two options available. Our standard tune up is $60. We also offer a $159 and includes up to $600 worth of parts, refrigerant and service. More details can be found here.
WHY TUNE UP?
My Air Conditioning systems should work. It should never break down. I should be comfortable every day... and night. I should never have an issue. I should be able to ignore the A/C and just count on it to work without issue on and on and on forever, right?
No. Of course not. While that would be nice its not very realistic(although most homeowners treat their ac this way). Like most appliances, except for maybe your toaster, the Air conditioner needs attention. In most cases it is the most expensive and arguably the most complicated appliance you'll own. It is also assembled on site NOT in some factory. It should therefore be inspected, altered, monitored, improved, and yes cleaned. All to make the system work better, longer, and with fewer interruptions or repairs.
To emphasize and show the importance of proper maintenance on ac systems we've made a quick video. We performed a very standard tune up and a baseline test-in test-out of the amps which the system was pulling to operate. Nothing revolutionary but important and should be performed with consistency year after year to ensure better operation of the air conditioner. Here is what we found:
1. PREVENTS FUTURE FAILURE
Our A/C tune ups include an over 20 point inspection. This includes monitoring the condition of minor electrical components. In this case during the tune up we found a capacitor providing lower readings. Let me be clear here. The old capacitor worked. But it was showing signs that it will probably "break" sooner than later. Replacing one is a very simple and relatively cheap repair. Better to catch this kind of issue during a tune up than to lose your A/C altogether in the summer and require a repair tech to come to your home.
2. IMPROVE OPERATION
There are a number of ways to clean your HVAC system. In this case we performed a basic water wash (some can utilize enhanced cleaners and tools). By removing dirt and debris from the condenser coil the air conditioner is able to transfer heat more efficiently and effectively. This will probably sounds odd but your air conditioner is actually designed to absorb heat inside the house and pull that heat and put it outside. When the system is clean it can perform that role more effectively and THUS uses less energy. This save you in operating costs by pulling lower amps.
Proper A/C Tune ups are important because.....
- Clean A/C Systems = Less Repairs
- Clean A/C Systems = Lower electrical bills
- Clean A/C Systems = Live Longer
